Kaneria hearing pushed back

Danish Kaneria's court hearing has been postponed after he failed to produce a transcript of the police inquiry that cleared him of criminal charges last year.
The Pakistan leg-spinner's layer, Farogh Naseem, said on Thursday that his client was unable to get the document, which recorded an Essex police inquiry into allegations that he was involved in match-fixing during a county match last year, which the Pakistan court had requested.

                                        Kaneria - in limbo.

Kaneria - in limbo.

The 30-year-old has not been allowed to play for his country because an integrity committee of the PCB is not satisfied by the clearance from Essex, his county team in England.
"For the first time Kaneria's counsel has accepted that the tapes exist but they have not submitted these before the court, so we have to contact our lawyer in England and try to bring those tapes here," PCB lawyer Taffazul Rizvi told AFP.
Kaneria and fellow Essex bowler Mervyn Westfield were arrested last year on charges of spot-fixing during a Pro40 match against Durham. Kaneria was later released without being charged but Westfield faces criminal proceedings.
Kaneria featured in Pakistan's Test series against England last year but has not been selected since on the grounds of not being cleared by the PCB committee.
The court has now asked the PCB to get legal advice as to whether or not they can get the transcript for Kaneria.
September 27 has been set as the new date for the hearing
