Gambhir fit for one-dayers

Gautam Gambhir has been cleared to play in the upcoming ODI series against England.
The Indian batsman endured a head injury while attempting a catch in the recent fourth and final Test at The Oval, where the English won by an innings and eight runs, and has since recovered. The visitors have already lost batsman Virender Sehwag to an ear complication and fast bowler Ishant Sharma to an ankle injury for the five one-dayers.
"There is nothing in his MRI scan and he is fit to play the ODI series. However, he has been asked to take some rest and that will take care of everything," team manager Shivlal Yadav told the Times Of India.
The left-hander was rested from Thursday's one-day clash against Sussex as a precaution, while his participation in Friday's tour match against Kent hangs in the balance.
Gambhir - no longer down and out.

The tourists, who earlier this year clinched the World Cup title, are on a quest to find match form in the wake of their four-nil Test series drubbing at the hands of Andrew Strauss' men.
"We will be back with the same intensity which was the character of the team during the World Cup. You can't write off the world champions," Yadav added.
The first ODI gets underway in Durham on 3. September.
